Education visas are for genuine study
Enrolling in a course and obtaining immigration permission are separate matters. A recognised school must be able to support the application, but admission alone does not guarantee a visa or extension. Immigration may review the course, school documentation, study history and whether attendance is genuine. Choose the institution carefully before paying non-refundable fees.
School and student responsibilities
The school normally supplies course and institutional records while the student provides passport, address, photographs and other personal documents. Attendance and progress may be checked, and stopping classes can affect immigration status. Changing schools often requires coordinated cancellation and a new application rather than a simple transfer.
Travel, guardians and planning ahead
Students should obtain advice before travelling because a re-entry permit or other action may be required. A qualifying parent may have a guardian option when a child studies at an approved institution, subject to separate requirements. University students: check the ED Plus route
Students enrolled in a Thai university at bachelor’s degree level or higher may qualify for the separate Non-Immigrant ED Plus framework. Its benefits can include exemption from a re-entry permit during qualifying study, university-coordinated extensions and a possible one-year stay after graduation to seek employment or undertake other permitted activities. It is not the normal route for language schools or short courses.
