Thailand’s Non-Immigrant ED Plus route is designed for international students studying at Thai universities at bachelor’s degree level or higher. It is not the ordinary ED route used for language schools, short courses or most non-degree programmes.
Who qualifies for ED Plus
The programme is for foreign students admitted to qualifying bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral study in Thailand. Exchange programmes may not qualify under embassy guidance. The university must be able to issue the required admission and enrolment confirmations and later coordinate extensions of stay.

Initial application and documents
Official guidance describes a single-entry visa valid for three months. Common evidence includes the passport biodata page, a recent photograph, proof of current location, financial evidence covering tuition and living costs, a university letter and a signed enrolment confirmation from an authorised university representative. The responsible embassy may request more evidence or an interview. Apply through the official Thailand e-Visa process where applicable.
Travel while studying
A central ED Plus benefit is exemption from obtaining a re-entry permit during the qualifying course. This is different from a normal long-stay permission that may be lost on departure without a re-entry permit. Students should nevertheless carry their current university and immigration evidence and confirm their permitted-stay date after each entry.
The year after graduation
Graduates may apply to remain for one additional year to seek employment, travel or pursue other permitted activities. This period is not itself permission to work.
